The Lakeland 4 x 3000 Challenge 2 of 3

2. History of The Lakeland 4 x 3000 Challenge

The Lakeland 4x3000m Challenge is a running route of approximately 46 miles, 11,000 feet of ascent and must include the four Lakeland 3000m summits which are Skiddaw, Scafell, Scafell Pike and Helvellyn.

The 4x3000 challenge was originally organised by the Ramblers Association as a long-distance walk route and the event used to be held on the 3rd Saturday of June each year starting and finishing at the Keswick Rugby club until it ceased being organised in 1997. Now the challenge can take place on the date of your choice.

Keswick Rugby Club have now revived the route as and there will be a completer board in the new clubhouse at Davidson Park (due to open April 2025).
